The General Authority of Customs announced on Friday that it had seized a shipment of medicines and soap that failed to meet legal and health requirements at the Trebil border crossing.

According to a statement, the shipment was intercepted during inspection and customs verification operations carried out by personnel at the Trebil Customs Center in coordination with supporting agencies. The checks revealed that the consignment lacked an import license and the necessary approvals from the Ministry of Health.

The authority noted that the pharmaceutical products were transported in an unrefrigerated metal container under conditions that did not comply with approved standards for the transportation and storage of medicines.

Legal procedures were initiated, and an official seizure report was prepared. The authority stressed that it would continue intensifying oversight at border crossings to prevent non-compliant goods from reaching Iraqi markets and to safeguard public health
