Electronic payment transactions in Iraq exceeded IQD 25.4 trillion during the first seven months of 2025, according to figures released by the Eco Iraq Observatory.

In a statement, the observatory said total financial transactions during the year reached IQD 32.8 trillion, generated through 14.6 million operations, with government collections and bill payments accounting for around IQD 20 trillion.

It noted that electronic payments alone amounted to more than 10.8 million transactions, with a combined value of IQD 25.4 trillion, reflecting the continued expansion of digital financial services in Iraq.

The observatory's data also showed that the country has 37.6 million electronic payment cards and 197,000 point-of-sale (POS) terminals, alongside 3,015 ATMs and 15,000 cash withdrawal points.

It added that Iraq's electronic payment market includes 18 service providers, five of which operate electronic wallet services.

The observatory described the growth as a positive indicator of Iraq's transition toward a digital economy, highlighting its potential to reduce cash dependency, improve transparency and broaden financial inclusion.
