Iraq’s Ministry of Oil said the accelerated gas investment project at the Artawi field in Basra, known as AG25, has entered its final stages, with overall completion reaching 96% and commercial operations expected to begin soon.
The project is part of Baghdad’s broader efforts to maximize the use of associated gas instead of flaring it, while directing the resulting dry gas into the national electricity network to supply domestic power-generation plants.
Meanwhile, the ministry is advancing exploration and development programs across oil and gas blocks awarded under the fifth-plus and sixth licensing rounds, with activities including seismic surveys, exploratory drilling and integrated field development.
As part of its long-term strategy, the ministry aims to gradually expand Iraq’s crude production capacity to more than 10 million barrels per day through intensified exploration and comprehensive field development projects.
