Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein held talks on Saturday with US Presidential Special Envoy for Iraq and Syria, Ambassador Tom Barrack, in Istanbul, Türkiye, focusing on bilateral relations and ways to expand cooperation between the two countries.
The discussions covered prospects for the Iraq-US partnership following the end of the international coalition forces' mission in Iraq, as well as regional developments and ongoing conflicts and their impact on security and stability across Iraq and the wider region.
The two officials also reviewed Iraq's financial and economic situation, including developments in the Iraqi dinar's exchange rate. They underscored the importance of sustained communication, continued consultations, and regular bilateral meetings to strengthen ties and coordinate positions on issues of mutual interest.
