Iraqi Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League Qahtan Taha Khalaf held talks on Tuesday with Iraqi Army Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Lieutenant General Saad Harbia, on strengthening security and military cooperation between Baghdad and Cairo.
A statement said the meeting focused on enhancing coordination between the two countries, as well as exchanging expertise and experiences and making use of the capabilities available to the Iraqi and Egyptian military institutions in order to improve efficiency and support security and stability.
The discussions also addressed preparations for the completion of the withdrawal of international coalition forces from Iraq, scheduled for September 30, along with the requirements of the upcoming phase and the importance of strengthening Iraq’s national capabilities.
Both sides stressed the importance of maintaining coordination and communication with Egypt and other friendly and brotherly countries in the security and military fields to serve common interests and contribute to regional stability.
