The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency has arrested a murder suspect who had been evading authorities since 2023 in a swift intelligence-led operation in Basra Governorate.

According to a statement issued by the agency, personnel from the Falcons Intelligence Cell apprehended the suspect, who was wanted under Article 406 of the Penal Code over his alleged involvement in several murder cases previously recorded in Basra.

The agency said intelligence officers used technical surveillance and information-gathering efforts to uncover the suspect’s concealment methods and pinpoint his location. He was then arrested in a rapid operation that left him no opportunity to flee.

The suspect was handed over to the competent investigative authorities to complete the legal procedures and refer him to the judiciary.
