Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense announced on Friday the destruction of three missile launch platforms belonging to Yemen’s Houthi group, warning that attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure would be met with decisive measures to safeguard the Kingdom’s security.
Ministry spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki said the three platforms had been targeted because they were allegedly being used to threaten regional security. He emphasized that Saudi armed forces would continue defending the country’s territory and confronting threats to its stability.
The announcement followed two attacks involving facilities at King Khalid International Airport and a Saudi Airlines aircraft. According to the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation, the incidents left three Saudi citizens dead and several citizens and residents of various nationalities injured, in addition to causing material damage.
The authority stated that the injuries ranged from minor to serious, with those affected transferred to hospitals for medical care. Emergency teams and security agencies responded to both incidents and worked to contain their consequences in line with established procedures.
The authority also confirmed that airport operations had resumed and air traffic had returned to normal. Damage assessments are continuing, alongside strengthened security measures aimed at protecting passengers and airport personnel.
