Iraqi security forces arrested the father, brother, uncle and cousin of a young man who was found with a gunshot wound to the head inside a room on agricultural land in Al-Wahda subdistrict, southeast of Baghdad, on Friday. The arrests came amid suspicions that the scene had been altered to make the incident appear to be a murder rather than a suicide.

A security source said the Nahrawan Police Department received a report of a suspected suicide in the Al-Shakhkhat area, in Shakha 7 village, opposite the Chinese company. The location is approximately five kilometers from the young man's family home.

The source added that a security team arrived at the site and found the young man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head inside a room on the agricultural property. Following an initial examination and inquiries into the circumstances, his father, brother, uncle and cousin were detained for further investigation.

According to the source, the detainees told investigators that the young man had shot himself with a pistol belonging to his father after recording a video of himself. They reportedly said they had removed the weapon from his hand and tampered with the scene in an attempt to lead others and security personnel to believe that he had been murdered.

The source confirmed that the detainees' statements were formally documented and the firearm involved in the incident was seized. The four suspects were subsequently placed in custody at the Nahrawan Criminal Investigation Department as legal proceedings and investigations continue to establish the full circumstances of the case.
