Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi stressed the importance of developing bilateral relations and strengthening security cooperation during their meeting in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

A statement said the discussions focused on the Sinjar file, including the need to consolidate the Iraqi state’s authority and end the presence of banned foreign armed elements. The two leaders also reviewed ways to expand trade and investment between Iraq and Türkiye, accelerate the implementation of existing agreements, and speed up joint strategic projects, particularly the Development Road project.
