Iraq head coach Graham Arnold said the draw against Oman in the team’s opening Gulf Cup 27 match does not reflect the side’s full potential, noting that Iraq performed well in the first half before losing concentration after the break.
Arnold said Iraq created important chances during the final quarter of the match but failed to find the net. He added that he gave several new players an opportunity and expects the team to improve in its upcoming games against Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The coach also raised concerns over the pitch and the length of the grass, saying such conditions could increase the risk of injuries, while thanking the Iraqi supporters for their continued presence and backing.
