Anbar’s local government began implementing an odd-even system for gasoline distribution to vehicles on Sunday, as part of measures aimed at managing fuel supplies and easing congestion at filling stations.
Local government spokesperson Muayad Al-Dulaimi said the measure took effect today and is intended to help contain the fuel shortage and better regulate distribution over the coming days.
He noted that security forces will intensify inspections at fuel stations and prevent vehicles with tanks more than half full from receiving additional gasoline, prioritizing those with a greater need for fuel.
Al-Dulaimi also warned that strict penalties would be imposed on anyone found involved in fuel manipulation or illegal diversion, stressing that supplies delivered to stations across the province are sufficient to meet actual demand.
