President Nizar Amedi on Tuesday called for continued efforts to strengthen Iraq-Lebanon relations and open new avenues for bilateral cooperation across various sectors in pursuit of the two countries’ shared interests.

The Presidency’s media office said in a statement that Amedi received Mohammed Redha Al-Husseini at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, where the ambassador presented his credentials as Iraq’s ambassador to Lebanon. Amedi wished him success in his new diplomatic assignment.

Amedi stressed the importance of expanding coordination and cooperation between Baghdad and Beirut, while highlighting the role of diplomatic missions in promoting Iraq’s image and supporting its engagement with the regional and international community.

For his part, Ambassador Al-Husseini pledged to work toward advancing relations between Iraq and Lebanon and maximizing available opportunities for cooperation in the political, economic and cultural fields, with the goal of strengthening communication and closer ties between the two peoples.
