Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi stressed the need to address the factors driving displacement and asylum, highlighting the importance of strengthening international and regional coordination to safeguard the rights of refugees and displaced persons in line with international laws and standards.

The remarks came during Al-Zaidi’s meeting in New York with UN High Commissioner for Refugees Barham Salih. He said Iraq attaches significant importance to the humanitarian dimension of the issue and remains committed to cooperation with the UNHCR and relevant organizations to support refugees and displaced people, improve their living conditions, and contribute to stability in affected areas.
