Iraq’s Al-Asas Iraqi Coalition has reaffirmed its support for the government’s economic measures to address mounting financial pressures, calling for tighter market supervision to limit the impact of the dollar exchange rate adjustment on citizens.
In a statement, the coalition said the exchange rate decision comes amid growing economic challenges, including the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the suspension of oil exports. It urged political forces to cooperate with the government, combat currency speculation and corruption, recover public funds, and establish a generational fund to support development projects.
The coalition also stressed the need to safeguard salary payments, maintain essential government spending and ensure food ration distribution, while strengthening price controls to prevent unjustified increases and protect consumers’ purchasing power.
